Dr. Warigia Bowman doesn't just have
the legal expertise to protect Oklahomans from greedy corporations that exploit our energy resources and bank accounts,
she actually teaches a class on it.

Dr. Warigia Bowman
Dr. Bowman is an international expert on public policy, infrastructure, water, and energy. She currently teaches water law, natural resources law, and energy law at the University of Tulsa College of Law.
Before becoming a professor she served as an honors trial attorney in the environmental division of the U.S. Department of Justice, where she tried cases across the nation in federal court.
Warigia is a single mother of three who says she has learned more by providing for her family than she ever learned at Harvard.
She teaches her children the importance of community service and giving through participation in programs like Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts as well as through her faith.
She attends the International Fellowship at First Presbyterian on Boston Ave in Tulsa. Warigia's maternal grandfather was a Presbyterian minister who taught himself to read using the Bible. Her faith is built on the foundation of values taught by him and her other grandparents who were the embodiment of Proverbs 24:3 "By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding, it is established;" (NIV).
She earned her doctorate from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University where she was the Hauser Fellow for Nonprofit Management.
She was the Barbara Jordan Scholar at the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs and earned her Juris Doctorate with honors from the University of Texas at Austin School of Law.
She holds an undergraduate degree in history from Columbia College of Columbia University in New York, where she was the Harry S. Truman Scholar for Public Service.
We need a responsive, transparent Commission that ensures fair utility prices for consumers.
We need to conduct a grid audit and ensure that Oklahoma has the latest, most up-to-date, most efficient, most resilient electric grid in the country.
Oklahoma is a leader in oil and gas and wind. Oklahoma should diversify our energy portfolio to make sure that we are a leader in biomass, solar, hydroelectric and geothermal as well.
Every county in Oklahoma should have a competitive telecommunications market and broadband Internet. Children should not have to sit on the corner outside of McDonald's to access online learning.
Oklahoma needs to add more inspectors for pipelines. Oklahoma needs to meet best practices in pipeline safety. Well maintained pipelines will protect our earth and water, while also creating skilled, long term jobs.
Oklahoma's Native American Nations are stewards of many energy resources and natural resources. The state needs to respect tribal sovereignty, and learn from the tribes to solve policy problems. For example, additional sponsored pipelines could help reduce gas flaring and get more gas to market.
